The publishing industry has been deciding for too long which stories are worth telling and who gets paid fairly to tell them. We're here to change that.
Based out of Tuscarawas County, Ohio, we're used to standing out.
We’re a community of writers, designers, and makers who were tired of watching brilliant work get passed over simply because it didn’t fit a single genre slot, marketable demographic, or mold as predetermined by publishing companies.
Our books resist easy categorization because the best stories usually do. We publish fiction that blurs romance, fantasy, literary fiction, speculative storytelling, queer narratives, and cozy weirdness into something entirely new.
We grew out of an artist collective, and we haven't forgotten it. Community is the structure beneath everything we do.
We stand against fascism, imperialism, ableism, transphobia, racism, and all systems of oppression.
We prioritize wholesale partnerships with independent and local bookstores and work to help shops curate distinct, memorable shelves.
Our authors are collaborators, not contributors.
Every author at Plush & Regal receives above-industry royalties, a seat at the table on cover design and packaging decisions, and a collaborative marketing process. We believe that when the artist thrives, the work thrives, and when the work thrives, so do readers.
We're not there yet. But every book we publish, every wholesale partnership we form, and every reader who chooses our catalog is a step in that direction.
Our long-term vision is to operate as a cooperative press where the people who make the work also have meaningful ownership over it.
